Now that I have completed my spring reading list, I am looking forward to reading some new releases next month! I want to get back into historical fiction novels while also continuing to read some women’s literature. Here are some new books I will be adding to my reading list.
The Most Beautiful Girl in Cuba By: Chanel Cleeton
The Most Beautiful Girl in Cuba is set in New York City and Cuba at the end of the 1800s. It is written from the perspectives of three women. The main plot focuses on a young woman who is being unjustly imprisoned in Cuba. Her picture manages to get on the cover of an American newspaper, becoming a symbol of Spanish oppression in Cuba. This picture invokes anger among Americans creating a push for American intervention in the battle for Cuban independence. The Most Beautiful Girl in Cuba is inspired by the real-life story of a heroic Cuban woman, Evangelina Cisneros.
I am excited to read this book as it is a historical fiction novel that focuses on events that I am unfamiliar with, and as I have mentioned in previous posts, I love learning about different historical events. The characters in the story, especially Evangelina Cisneros, are very intriguing, and I look forward to learning more about them.

People We Meet On Vacation By: Emily Henry
I’ve been really looking forward to the release of Emily Henry’s new book, People We Meet on Vacation. I loved Henry’s previous work, Beach Read, so when I heard she was writing another romantic comedy, I knew I had to get my hands on it!
This is a story of two very different people who are woven together based on a lifelong friendship. Their friendship derails after one event ruins everything. After years of not speaking, they decide to give their friendship another shot while ignoring the one aspect that changed everything.

That Summer By: Jennifer Weiner
That Summer has appeared on many of my favourite book blogger’s reading lists. Once I looked into the book myself, I was immediately hooked. The main character, Daisy, feels isolated and alone. Her teenage daughter is becoming a problem, her husband isn’t helping, and she isn’t finding satisfaction in her work. Then one day, she begins receiving misdirected emails from an unknown sender. The intended recipient seems to have a more exciting life than Daisy. Daisy eventually befriends the emailer, and as they become closer, she begins to suspect their interaction was not as accidental as she initially thought.
I am really interested in hearing more about the life Daisy is living and why she finds herself feeling unhappy, but it was the suspenseful aspect of the unknown emailer that really gained my attention. I am curious who this person is and why they have come into Daisy’s life.
